    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can anyone translate tire sizes for old gs750's????

I have an 82 gs750t that will need new tires to pass inspection. The old tires were on it when I bought it not running (dry Rotted)
Problem Tire size on front is 3.50 - 19
Tire size on rear is 4.50 - 17

How do these translate to new tires I am looking in Dennis Kirk now:
Front tire 100/90 - 19 ???????
Rear tire 130/70 - 17 ??? 130/90 - 17 ??????
Are these close??? Too Big ????? Too small ?????
Please a little help???

You're right on the front tire but the back tire is a 120/90-17 (same size as on my bike).

If ya don't like those prices you can do some searching on the web for those models and probably find something cheaper :wink:

Don't trust the tire size conversion charts you may find out there. The tires tend to run big. I had to return a 100/90-18 front I bought to replace the old 3.25-18, no way would it fit under the fender. Also couldn't fit a 120/90-18 on the back, wouldn't clear the swingarm (1980 GS450S). Went with 90/90-18 and 110/90-18 Avon Roadrunners which work great but weren't cheap. 110mm is 4.33 inches but the rear tire is more like 4.50 inches wide. The second number is aspect ratio, ie, on a 110/90 the tread width is supposed to be 110mm and the sidewall height is supposed to be 90% of that or 99mm, but they run big.

I found some decent prices and large selection at www.parts411.com

They were local so I saved on shipping (paid $5 for will-call).
 
GS550 tires

GS550 tires

I have a similar problem but with a GS550. Manual says 19x3.25 H19 on the front and there is currently a worn Dunlop F24 100/90. Can I be sure that this is the right tire for this wheel and why an F24 - there are others in the Dunlop range for 100/90 that have very different thread look - how do you choose? Also - it saws on the wall of hte current tire that it's tubless - could this be right for a bike this old?

I had a 100/90 front and a 120/90 on the rear on my 81 750. I believe that is the correct size.

I did also question the fact that my tires say tubeless and the bike is 23 years old. I order two new tires from Dennis Kirk in the 120/90 and the 100/90 size and they were made to be run tubeless or accept tubes if necessary.
 
Its OK to install tubes in tires marked tubeless.

What do your rims say? If it is an '82 you might have tubeless rims. Are the current tires mounted tubed or tubless?
 
The tire definitly say tubeless I was just suprised that they said that on a 1982 bike.
