DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Change your bikes stance or seating position

I looked for awhile till I found this place that is making good quality (handlebar risers)for bikes other than Harleys. We used to call them bar-backs. Anyway these are good for changing riding position or for lowering the frame on the forks without the bars in the way. I put a shorter but wider tire on my 1100E which made the bike stance rake upward a bit. With the barbacks (risers) on, I lowered the frame on the forks 1" and brought back the original stance. Now the whole bike is about 3/4" lower overall. Check em out.

hi

sounds cool do you have a photo you can show what it looks like lowered

am thinking of doing this to my bike

cheers

I tried but found my camera needs new batteries. Ive got to work away for a few days but I'll bring back batteries and post a pic of them on my bike. There are pics on the site where they sell them. I used the 1" up black anodized models but they also have them in 1" up- 1 3/8" back and in Alum. finish.

Heres a pic of the risers installed on my bike 83' GS1100E. If you have air fittings on your forks like I do, you have to make sure you take care of this in a proper fashion.

Thats a good ID, but for that small of a rise, heres another ID; Take your bars off, take the top clamp, flip it upside down and put it over the bottom clamp, put the bars on them, then take the top clamp from a donor bike and clamp the bars down! All you would need is longer bolts, and a set of top clamps from a donor bike! That would be for just a rise, wouldnt do any good for pulling them back an inch!

I made my own handle bars via 7/8' od tubing, sawzall, measuring tape, scrap I had from an old luggage rack from a scooter, welder and some bondo and paint, I lowered my forks 3 inches. Total cost... $5.50 and it looks factory thanks to an hour working with bondo-darren

Yeah, I did the same sort of thing to my 1100 bar, using an old handle bar, and some steel, for about 1 inch up, and back. I did it for control clearance, with the flat drag bars on it, the brake lever would hit the top of the fork leg before I could get it where I wanted. No bondo on mine, just paint, though it would look better with a little grinding and bondo. I may have to do that. I haven't taken a pic of it yet.
