    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Changed drive sprocket. Need help!!!

This doesn't seem right, but I'm nearly 100% sure I didn't lose any washers or spacers.

Shouldn't the retaining washer sit right up against the nut?

Instead, threads are exposed, and all that washer would do is stop the nut from coming completely off.

The worst part is, I took the old sproket off weeks ago, and just put the new one on last night, and I cannot remember how it originally was.

Anyone ever dealt with this before?

It is a 1986 GSXR 750

I don't know the answer; but I'd head straight for a parts diagram on someplace like bike Bandit.

I'm assuming you have stayed with the same size chain. The original sprocket should have had a stepped washer and vibration damper mounted on each side of the sprocket that probably accounted for the difference in thichness. the damper assembly is not necessary but you should probably come up with some spacers to re gain the original chain alignment and sprocket mounted thickness. and yes bikebandits.com has a decent pic of the assembly under the transmition section.
 
You have the install CORRECT! The washer is a little away from the nut just like you have it. I know as I used to have a Limited Edition dry clutch 750. Ray.
 
Thanks for the replies.

The diagram at bikebandit DOES show some spacers of some sort, but I know for a fact none of those were there when I took it apart. The important part is that I'm pretty sure I do have the spacer that sits behind the sprocket, so alignment should not be a problem. I'm going to locktite the nut, run it, and see what happens.
