    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Choke Cable?

OK so I have been plugging away at the GS now that were are (for the time being) out of the minus 20 tempuratures. And I hooked up the carbs and throttle cable. However when I went to attached the choke cable, I cant figure out how...

Does anyone have any pictures of how the cable comes from the bars right to the carbs.

What bike is this for? You might want to throw that in your signature block so we don't always have to ask.

With that said, can you take a picture of the opposite side of your throttle as I believe it will go there (looks like you are missing something)
 
You have to run the cable thru that 90 degree tube on the left side of the throttle cable mount. The tube should be pointing straight up instead of back over the carbs.

I see that now, I didnt even see that hole when I was working on it. Thanks guys

Do I have the ends right though? Like where the choke finally hooks up? It just seems like my cable is far to long

Yes, it appears to be ended correctly. Kinda hard to tell from that angle, but there is a little slider fork that supports the end of the cable and holds it into the hook at the end. The two items will totally encircle the end of the cable, holding it in place.

You should also consider getting proper clamps for those intake boots. There are grooves in the boots that are made just for the proper clamps. Using those wider clamps will distort the boots, and might give you problems.

Yeah I noticed I picked up the wrong clamps when I attached them. But they will have to do for now. I have a set of Kelhine CR carbs with new boots to go on once I get the bike up and running.
