    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

COIL questions - please look! quickie!

Hey all,

Doing the coil mod, and just not sure if I should cut the orange wire between the two seperate connectors (going to the coils from harness).

I made a diagram below. As I understand, I link the orange wires from the kill switch to the ignitor, and run that with a new wire to the relay (to close the circuit?)

So, I don't think I need to cut that wire that connects the two separate connectors, but I wanted to make sure. I didn't show all the wires in the diagrams below, just the ones in question.

Thanks, I've got that other stuff under control (positive line, ground, and 2 lines to coils from relay--its a 5 pin--), I was just wondering


a: Whether or not to disconnect the orange/white wire linking the two connectors shown (seems as if I should just leave them.


b: If diagram two looks correct, where cut the wiriing so that the two power supplies to the coils come from the relay, and the stock wiring of the ignitor/killswitch lines are soldered with a line going to the #86 relay.


I think I've got it right, but I was just trying to double check.

The orange and white wire supply the ignition and the coils. I wouldn't supply it seperately to the coils. Just split the orange wire anywhere past the solder ball inside the harness under the coils. I've split the kill switch wire from the solder ball and used it as a switch and soldered the relay into the solder ball.
 
OK...you're losing me here. I pulled out the harness, and removed a fair bit of the taping/shielding.

What I found was :

Thats what was there stock. So, as I understood the directions of one of the tutorials, I cut the two wires supplying the connector coming from the harness (soldering two new wires coming from the relay, which supply the old orange/white lines coming from the coils) , and joined them, linking the wire coming from the kill/switch to the one from the rear directly together, and then soldering a line from that to connect with the #86 pin on the relay.

So, as I understand it, that wire going to #86 from the existing power supply lines just closes the relay's circuits so it can supply power from the #30 pin to the two #87's which lead to supply the coils. I have the ground for #85.


But, as said, there was that wire connecting between the two connectors coming from the harness, in stock setup, that I was wondering if I needed to slice.

So I just put it back together , and its working. Or at least it started well! I'll go for a ride soon.

FINALLY did this coil mod.
