A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ive got a 1982 GS850G. I just installed a Dyna S on it. I have spark at 3 of the 4 cylinders. #2 is not firing for some reason. I am trying to check the Coils of which are different on the bike to begin with. 1-4 Coil which both sparks has a primary resistance of 3.8. 2-3 Coil which I think is a problem has 4.0 resistance. 0.0 resistance on my multimeter leads. I cannot get anything to register for the secondary resistance on either of them.

Q - What am I doing wrong that I cannot get Secondary resistance readings?

Q- What are the primary's supposed to be? and can they be different?

Thank you for your input.

Try www.gs-classic.de/index1e.htm follow instructions for english conversion, unless you read german. click bike models on top find your model click technical info i believe, you find loads of info, on your machine. or tipps etc. look around. good luck. SAN.

Swap the spark plug wires on 2 and 3. If the problem moves to #3, you probably have a bad wire.

Ok- I found I can take the Spark Plug Caps off as well as the boots on top and bottom. I can now read secondary resistance by putting the multimeter directly on the wire itself. That means its not the wire. However - Has anyone dealt with faulty spark plug caps before?

Q- As far as the spark plug caps are concerned, Do you know if there should be any resistance between one end and the other. What about putting a multimeter on each end just to see if there is connectivity??

The plug caps are around 5K ohms, if on is bad Get the NGK replacements $3-$4 Oem are like $16 @
