    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I was looking to get some mic's and transmitters. My wife and I usually ride with another couple and we talked about getting some way to communicate between the four of us. I found this: http://www.martleyelectronics.co.uk/radios.htm. It is about 1/4th of the way down the page and allows for exactly what I want. I searched elsewhere but could not find anything that would give me anything over 2-way. These are also voice activated with an additional add-on. The only issue that would keep me from ordering these are I don't know if they will work in the states. Can I use them hear? Is there a better alternative that I don't know about? I would rather buy ones here in the US, but I am not having any luck finding any.

Suggestions, alternatives, or "they will work in the US just fine" are welcome :)

I did a quick search and they seem to be only for sale in the UK which would lead me to believe they are not type accepted for the US.
Would they work yes would there use be legal here I wouldn't think so.
I have been thinking along the same lines, I'm sure you could get 4 "family"
radios for cheap money here just make sure they can use Vox ie voice operation and get the head sets. As long as you are all on the same channel it should work just fine. I have seen these radios for $ 25-30 for a pair with the charger. Head sets extra and of course they would have to fit under your helmet. They are sold everywhere. We use ours when I'm driving the motor home and my wife is following me in the car. At Disney everybody had them.
Usually the head set hooks over the ear and the mic goes near your mouth.
I dont know how they would work at highway speed with the wind noise and the bike itself could be electrical noisy but worth a try. Good luck
 
Okay, I found the alternative- http://www.bikeland.org/story.php?storyID=20963 It uses FRS. So... now, does anybody have any recommendation on a good unit/brand? If I was to buy this one, I would rather spend close to 200 on one that can be used with 2 people (my wife and I) so we only have to buy one unit for us and then still be able to communicate with another bike (or multiple bikes).
