A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Damn bike.

Okay so I got my bike running and I went for a test drive and I was riding around the block and I noticed when I puttwist the throttle it like revs down and when I try driving with it it like the exhaust sounds like it's thudding and it's not going any faster than 10 mph

Is this post intended to alleviate some frustration and just a rant? or is it actually a post looking for help with why your bike isn't running properly?

"Trying to diagnose running problems on a bike with an unknown maintenance history is an exercise in futility until a baseline is established through proper maintenance. Things like clean carbs, properly adjusted valves, sealed intake system (airbox, carb boots), a clean gas tank (no rust), and a properly functioning petcock are 100% mandatory for the bike to run properly. It's best to perform all the bikes maintenance when you first get the bike, and then if problems show up you will know what the problem is not."

A poor running Bike sux ! But you've come to the right place for help and the guys here have BTDT many times over. So....I suggest start with this link (above) and then move on to this one.

Wow!

Dave set up with the info. Go through the links and do some maintenance and then report back.

The carbs are clean the tank is clean and the petcock is properly working. It seems like there is a dead zone in the throttle when I twist it about a quarter of the way. And when I put it at full throttle it sounds like thudding but not getting any louder just constant thudding from the exhaust

A lot more information is needed here to speculate

Is your bike completely stock, or does it sport any mods (pod filters, carb kit, 4/1 exhaust, etc.)? Have you rebuilt carbs, ensuring all parts are in good shape, accounted for, and reassembled properly? Carbs vacuum synced? How about inlet manifold o-rings... leaky ones will upset any performance you're trying to achieve.

As nejeff mentioned, you need to offer up as many details as you can think of. Post a couple pics of your bike as it sits now.
