A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hey guys n gals<
I was out riding my gs(1980 1000g)when all of a sudden she cuts of .I pull to the side or the road & all the lights are working but the ignition button does nothing! If i jump out the solenoid she'll turn over fine , but not start! She wont even bump start.she's in real good shape (thanks to GSR). New stator,r/r, dyna ign, clean carbs, valves adjusted, new battery. Was running MINT before this happened.Im guessing i'll have to start with the "meter" checking the ign. switch & kill switch & maybe power to the coils. I also cut the wires to the clutch saftey switch & put them together ( bypassing it).
Anything anyone else can think to check would be a help.
Ps. the "run" switch looked clean also (opened that up to)
Thanks
Vinny

He eliminated the clutch switch.
Did the wires come apart? If not, I still put my $ on the sidestand.

might sound silly, but did you check your fuses? the other day i had my ignition fuse go out.. the starter button didn't work and everything else seemed fine.

also, if you've done the coil relay mod, check the inline fuse.

so,....i have no side stand switch. Im getting power to the kill switch but none to the start button? I took apart the kill switch & cleaned the contacts.I also took apart the ign switch & cleaned that too. im going to pull the fuse box & check that out next. im also not getting power to the coils ( maybe the coil relay mod in my future too)
anyway ..back to the garage!
Wish me luck!
Vinny

Sounds like it is in the ignition circuit, somewhere. When the switch is on, there should be power to the coils as well.
