    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I jsut got my swingarm in the mail and am attempting to clean it up to put on my bike. what kind of degreaser do you all use? this one is pretty messy with lots of dirt and grime as well as lots of fine sticky grease...my friend gave me some blue thunder, it works ok. I'm looking for ideas that will work better.

I use Gunk engine degreaser a lot but I guess kerosene would also work fine, and is a lot cheaper.

Use the pressure washer first then I use the RED can of CRC BrakeKlean. It is also o-ring friendly. The Green can will eat plastic, including saftey glasses, but the RED can is much better. Diesel fuel / kerosene works but you have a hard time getting the smell out of anything it gets splashed on.

I use a mixture of products to clean parts. Most commonly kerosene followed by soap and water. On your swingarm anything that cleans (except gasoline) would probably be ok.

No one has advocated it here - which is good - but NEVER use gasoline. Aside from the fact that it is a very flamable liquid, it is not good to use on bearing surfaces. The reason for this is that gasoline removes all of the oil that has penetrated into the surface of the metal and dries it out. This is not good for bearing surfaces. (I know you are not cleaning bearings) My guess is that solvents such as carburator cleaner can do the same thing. I always use kerosine on bearing surfaces.

Thanks to the EPA, none of the degreasers are nearly as good as they were, even 5 or 6 years ago.....especially in good, 'ol California. :? They'd outlaw gasoline here if they could........
 
I agree Kerosene works great and is safe if you get any on painted parts and pieces!
