I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I've searched the forums and gotten nothing conclusive to this bike in terms of the Dyna S ignition. Granted I'm still new to this site, despite onlooking while looking for information, and I'm also new to this bike. I wanted to double check to see what, if anything, extra I would need to do to fit a Dyna S ignition on the '83 GS750ES.

Also, I'm curious about Dyna coils. Which Dyna coils are other '83 750 owners running on there bikes?

All of this is purely information for planning on what I'm going to do on the bike, I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to do yet.

Thanks

i wouldnt worry about your system if its working fine since you already have electronic ignition. but, if you did get a dyna S, you will need a mechanical advance, coils, wires, and caps, all available from Z1, except the mechanical advance.

dyna green coils are the ones you want to replace stock though.

Dyna Ignition

Dyna Ignition

I have the same bike as you. I tried to put a dyna 2000 ignition and the plate with the pick ups that mounts to the right side of the engine case under the ignition cover did not fit. It's the wrong diameter and the mounting screw holes were in the wrong place.

Not sure if the dyna S is going to be different.

I'd second that if you already have electronic ignition, which you do, I wouldn't spend the money. I'd just upgrade the coils to Dyna. That being said, the Dyna S is great if your igniter goes bad as a Dyna S is 150 bucks and an igniter (which it replaces) is 300 plus (depending on model).

I have an 83 model also, and my igniter is out I'm pretty sure. I have been trying to figure out how to get the system to work. I think I could use my old pick-up coil disk and remount the dyna pickup coils onto it. My main concern is with the mechanical advance. The inside of the electronic systems where the mechanical advance goes into the engine part that rotates, it has a little round peg so you can take the part that replaces the mechanical advance in the electronic models and it stay intact. There is no timing plate in these bikes. I was thinking that the black plastic thing they send you from dyna might just happen to fit on the electronic advance systems shaft that goes through the center plate of the pick-up coils. I would definitely like to hear someone else with some feedback on this! Thanks
