Naturally I would think the same thing, that I'm hooking something up wrong, or testing it wrong, but as others have said..it's only 3 wires. White wire goes to coil 1-4, black wire goes to coil 2-3. Red wire goes to a switched 12V, at first the orange/white wire up at the coils, then the rear brake light, finally the neutral switch. It doesn't make any sense to me either that static timing would work when it's hooked directly instead of spliced, like you say 12V is 12V spliced or direct, it shouldn't matter, but that's what is showing up. Very odd. We won't have time to get back at it until next week but when we do and we resolve this situation we will post our findings. Thanks for all the help everyone.
