    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dyna S install question

Naturally I would think the same thing, that I'm hooking something up wrong, or testing it wrong, but as others have said..it's only 3 wires. White wire goes to coil 1-4, black wire goes to coil 2-3. Red wire goes to a switched 12V, at first the orange/white wire up at the coils, then the rear brake light, finally the neutral switch. It doesn't make any sense to me either that static timing would work when it's hooked directly instead of spliced, like you say 12V is 12V spliced or direct, it shouldn't matter, but that's what is showing up. Very odd. We won't have time to get back at it until next week but when we do and we resolve this situation we will post our findings. Thanks for all the help everyone.
 
Well we went at it again today..Success!! she fired right up and is running better than ever. We cleaned the wiring harness and installed a relay for the coils. We didn't measure the voltage drop at the coils before we put in the relay but I'm sure that was the problem as you all suggested. It was a good thing we did the harness clean up, we found a main harness 4 prong connector that was almost welded together, and a couple of other 'nasty' connections. As well we replaced an almost melted starter relay, it's crazy what rusty connections can do. So.....nice shiny new Dyna ignition and Dyna coils thanks to 'gearhead13' and a cleaned up wiring harness, MAJOR up grades and improvements done today that's for sure. Glenn is pumped at how fast she starts up now. Thanks again for everyone's help.
