DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

EBay Alert SH775 Regulator, reasonable so far

For anyone looking for the series regulator that we've all been arguing about, I thought it was worth a post.

This is currently (pun intended) $24.99 w/$16 shipping. It's not a BIN auction, it's a regular (whatever the term is -- you bid high enough, you win) auction.

There used to be a BIN auction for the same price -- except some scumbag with the ebay name of 'robertbarr' snapped it up. Man, some people.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I do believe that I would rather pay about double the price and get a NEW unit.

And as an update to my update, it's been relisted in a BIN auction.

I bought an identical unit from the same firm. They seem to find these by the boatload. Who's wrecking all these RZR's?

Have you tried yours yet? maybe these things get cooked in the Arizona heat- it's only rated for 35 amps with decent airflow.

These are un-tested, as-is, where-is. IMHO, why risk your $100+ stator acting as a fuse if that bargain R/R is defective?

Low risk. Shindengen R/R's almost never fail. I'm tempted to buy this one myself just to play with.

I'm tempted too, but shipping charge is too much my way. But I'm surprised these big ATV's don't come with a real alternator

Pardon my ignorance, but I have already installed the Honda r/r. Is this a better option? Worth doing it?

I don't think there is any question that the Compu-Fire 55402 is excellent, but it's hard to beat $62.00 and change for the SH-775/Polaris 4012941. Unless I hear of any failures, I'll use the SH-775 om my Son's bike when we get around to getting it ready for the road.

The Honda R/R's were the R/R of choice because they were so much more reliable than the stock Suzuki R/R's, but there is still stator problems out there with every PM three phase charging system that uses shunt type R/R's just because of the way they work. There is no doubt the series R/R is better because it switches on and off instead or dogging the stator 24/7. There were a lot of miles ridden with the type R/R you now have. Should you replace it, that would be up to you, but I will bet the shunt R/R will eventually fade out as the series R/R proves reliability and only time will provide that track record. We saw a dramatic price reduction from the Compu-Fire 55402 ($155.00 now) to the SH-775/Polaris 4012941 ($63.00) It looks promising though and we should see more coming on the market. I have over 10,000 miles on mine at this point.

How is this unit wired into the Suzuki charging system? All I see is a plug. Does it have the same leads as the Honda r/r?

-edit- I posted a little too quick. After looking around a bit, The three leads from the stator on the left, positive and negative on the left, correct?
