A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Filter oil?

I am running EMGO pod filters. I finally got the jetting sorted out and the bike is running pretty well. I have been running them dry, with no oil. Should I be oiling them with some type of filter oil? What will this do to my jetting? Will it richen it up?

I don't run Emgo pod filters and have never even read their instructions if any.
I believe they don't require any oil, which amazes me they filter well.
I would contact them and ask to be certain. If they don't require oiling, then oiling them would obviously cause a rich mixture.

Thanks, Keith. I bought the filters last year right after I got the bike (83 GS1100E) and they didn't come with any directions. I have been a little worried that they are not filtering as well as they could if they were oiled. I hate the thought of more tuning though, and that keeps me from oiling them. I think I will go ahead and run them for the summer and change them out with K&Ns this winter.

Are these a foam filter? If so, I'm sure they would need to be oiled.

All foam filters need oil. I think his are the fine wire mesh?? I'm not sure because I don't follow what Emgo makes.

Emgo pod filters use a paper element and you do not use oil on them. Simply run them until they are dirty, then throw them out and go buy more.

That would get expensive. 4 X what?...$10-15/each? That can't be right.
All filters with paper elements are non-reusable. The Emgo's, cheaper brand, or whatever they are that I've seen, have fine wire mesh.
