    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Footpegs/boards

What are people using for footpegs/boards? I really want to replace those meatpaws that are stock but dont know where to start looking. Using a footboard i know i will have to modify or adjust my rear brake pedal and shifter so i probably wont go that route, but im unsure as to what to look for in a footpeg. what sort of mount works best? Harley style im assuming with some sort of spacer. Any thoughts?
 
Haven't see ANY mention of floorboards on a GS. :-k

I have had them on a couple of LARGE Kawasakis and do NOT have them on my Wing, so I think I can comfortably say that on a GS, they would really be in the way, unless you only ride vertically. Yeah, you have a GK, the heaviest GS out there, but it's still surprisingly nimble.

There are quite a few guys that will outrun me in the twisties, as I don't get my thrill out of scraping footpegs all the time, so I know there is a lot more cornering room left, but that would be taken up FAR too quickly with floorboards.

Besides modifying the brake pedal (which will then be somewhat of a pain to use), you will also have to come up with a heel-and-toe setup for the shifter.

With careful selection of crash guards and highway pegs clamped to them, you can have an alternate location for your feet on them. If the highway pegs are close enough (and if your boots are long enough), you might have a third position by resting your heel on the stock pegs and your toes on the highway pegs. Almost as good as floorboards.

Just my opinion, but you did ask. :o

thats why i was thinking of going with a footpeg, i dont like the pegs on the gk. its like standing on a fist. i cant really get comfortable. but what kind of options are out there? ive thought about pegs from one of the sportier models but dont like the stock look to much. but i still want a peg with a good amount of rubber

here is what i did one time and loved it.left all the stock stuff aS IS.YOU HAVE CRASH BARS I ASSUME.TAKE THEM OFF.now,the rectangular plate that is welded to them that the bolts go through place on some poster board and trace its outline.see its about 2-3 inches long .Now,make the bottom dimension several inches longer,using the original placement of the holes for remounting.Take some bar stock.1/1/2 inches wide,1/4 to 1/2 inch thick,i used 5/16th.make 2 new mounting plates with the holes still at the top like they are stock.now by using a cardboard template and some experimenting make a cutout about 3 inches longer,hanging further down,so that the bottom edge would clear the cases.then weld some round solid stock or i used structural steel pipe onto the bottom edge of the new brackets.these would be about 10 inches long to reach out past the cases enough to rest your feet on.once the downward reach is right,make them out of steel and remount.talk about comfort,you can ride all day with that feet forward position.You can go to TC choppers website and get some ideas too.good luck.let me know if you use my idea.yes,you have to move your feet off the pegs back to the stock ones for braking and shifting but once in 5th gear you can relax and use only the highway pegs.
