DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello again,
Im on on a 650 gx I purchased recently , I did all the normal stuff to it that 2 years of sitting required, /thanks to all for the tech info.
My new problem is front end shake at 4o mph .I put a used tire on it when purchased so figured a new tire and balance would fix but noooo.
Any ideas. The shake turns into tank slap if you let go of the bars.
SCARY Thanks

sounds like it could be a few things, steering head bearings could be going/gone. i actually had a tweaked tripptle tree on mine, caused a similar issue. i'm not sure what a good way to test if the forks are tweaked, possibly a level? mine was noticable just looking at it.

it's easy to test the bearings though. simply put it on the centre stand and lean back so the front tire is off the ground, and rotate the handlebars slowly both ways till stop. if you feel any setteling or "clicking" into a notch, you probably need to replace them. if it's smooth and easy to rotate the entire travel, it's probably something else.

Yes, if it has smooth travel try tightening the big steering head nut. Tighten in small increments like an 1/8" at a time. Too tight is just as bad as too loose.

THanks I guess it is something else , the forks feel tight and free rotating:-k

do you know of a good test to see if everything is square up as it should be with the forks and tripple tree?

Thanks, I went out today and adjusted the steer head bearings and that stopped the wobble . THANKS A MILLION. This forum is worth a million.
