Hello,
I am new to the forum, but have owned several GS models. Currently own 1982 GS 750E with a few problems. I noticed gas leaking from the #4 carb around the boot leading to the airbox. I removed the carbs, and airbox, and checked the boots for dry, or cracks. No cracks, but boot #1 is a little stiff. The airbox had a few ounces of fuel in it and the drain tube was clogged. I cleaned out the drain tube, airbox, and put everything back together. The bike runs great, no hesitation, perfect idle. After a half hour ride I parked the bike. The next day I smelled gas and found the drain tube from the airbox is dripping constantly with fuel. It seems the carbs are sending fuel into the airbox. I'm not sure what to do, but I'm hesistant to rebuild the carbs since it runs so good. Any advice at all would be helpful. I'm a bit of a hack mechanic, but I've brought several bikes back from the grave, and I hope to keep this bike for a few more years. Thank you. Lance
