If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

im sorry but let me make sure i understand..fuel would go into airbox even if bike was running??cause it was leaking while i was driving on highway.was also leaking while parked.definitely leaking on highway cause my buddy following me got some gas on his windsheild..sorry for all the questions

oh and i wasnt asking about that inline petcock...mike10 was.but yes z1 does have it

Yeah I saw I got ya'll confused:eek:

Im really not real sure about the valve leaking while the bike is running, mine didnt but I wouldnt be surprised.
A new petcock will leak if left on prime while parked. Ask me how I know.

im not sure either, doesnt make sense to me.i mean if the bike is running it should burn the gas.it seems to me that wether the petcock is on pri or on its the same amount of fuel going to carbs so as long as its running it should burn.

UNLESS mayyybe the guy i bought it from already had the airbox flooded when i bought it,but this bike was bone dry till i got it home, which is whats confusing me.why start leaking on the ride home.not on the test drive?the gas that was dripping out was nasty,at first i thought it was oil,so i quess it could have had fuel in the box when i bought it.

Hi,

Sorry if I'm late with this. It's a few notes about overflowing carbs. It an article called, um ...

The petcock works from vacume from the motor when in the on position. You should have another line coming from the vacume port on the carbs plugged into it.
On prime its gravity that makes it work.

OH...this is painful. Thanks Cliff for making every attempt.

You need 4 intake orings (if you need them).

You need to determine where the fuel is leaking FROM...not leaking to. We all know where it is going to leak to. Pull the vacuum line off the #2 carb for the petcock and see if there is any fuel dripping out it. Pull the fuel line from the T (with the petcock in the RUN position) and see if there is any fuel leaking from there.

Good Deal!!! Glad that it was a simple fix. Most of the GS bike need a petcock, so you were on the right track. Now...after the parts are in, get out there and ride! ;) :D

PRI is prime, only for a bike that hasn't been started for awhile. Avoid ever using Prime unless necessary because you might forget to switch it back to RUN. If it won't start and perform on RUN, there is something wrong.

sorry for making it painful..its painful for me too.especially for the fact of sourcing parts for this thing and when you do theyre very expensive and take forever to ship.if it was as easy as driving to suzuki dealer and buying the parts there i would have built the carb and replaced petcock off the bat.i just dont feeling like spending lots of money, waiting two weeks to get the wrong parts.i just wanted an educated diagnosis.

and the fact of every link sent to me was for an 850.this is a 550,completely diffent.

oh and for the record i was asking about o-rings for the carb not intake.i already replaced those.they were still great shape, soft, clean so that was a waste of time/money.

thanks for your help and i will let you all know when shes up and running and post some pics

think i figured that out the hard way,ha.i will never put it on pri again.in fact after i put the carbs back in after opening them up the first time,i put it on run and it fired after a few cranks.and that was with dry bowls.i now know.thanks you
