Full on rebuild?

The more I wrench on this machine the more I really want to completely tear it down and rebuild it completely. The frame has some spotty surface rust, a little surface rust everywhere actually. The engine is very oxidized and badly needs deep cleaned and painted, surely much easier if it were off the bike... I'm just curious if anyone can tell me, from their own experience wether or not it's worth it, and if it's incredibly difficult to do? I am a noob, but I have good common sense and ability. I feel like even though I'm on the right track to a mechanically sound machine I want the whole bike to be the best it possibly can. Thoughts?

All it takes is time and money and plenty of both if the bike is in generally poor condition.

I wouldn't say it's in poor condition, but surely closer to poor than mint. I've had it running and it is a strong machine. My logical brain says to tear it down while my impulsive brain says it wants to ride asap! It's my only bike and I know good and well it will take quite a bit longer to get out on the road if I go the full rebuild route. Decisions decisions....

A little nervy about it... What if the Mayans were right!I will be cussing like a trucker if the world ends and my bike is still under restoration:lol:. I think you've talked me into it. I prefer to do things whole arsed anyway. A long road just got a whole lot longer, but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

well worth a full rebuild but as said you need plenty of spare time and over budget what you want to spend because you will always find something that needs replacing that you didnt think about before you started.
you will be glad you did it when its back on the road again
