A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is there a different cap that will work on my 81? TBH the original square one is not appealing to me. I would like to find a round more traditional type.

I've wanted to change the gas cap on my 82gs550l but I haven't found anything to replace it with. I like the Monza flip up caps..I guess if you are handy with bondo or metal working you could make it work.

Yea my searches are getting me nowhere. I'm not sure its worth doing body work over

I'm not finding anything. I recently decided the tank will be resprayed in a bright orange (along with headlight bucket) and the rest left blk/chrome. That in mind i'm going to just shoot black on the stock cap. Should look good.

Scrub up the chrome well with some 400 or 600 paper to make it rough for the paint to adhere..otherwise its just goona peel off in short order. Also they make bonding agents that might be of benefit on the cap.

Painting is one area where I'm actually very proficient ;) I sprayed custom cars/bikes/boats etc from 11 till around 23

Many folks may be looking for a good painter since Larry has been out for a while now...could be a good side money maker for you!!!

I'm too easily distracted and unreliable I would hate myself if I took on anyone's project lol. When I was going to a shop each day with a boss it was easy but on my own my lack of motivation would likely win out. For my own stuff theres no stopping me but i'm selfish I guess. Character flaw.

this may well explain your even contemplating, riding 'round with an eggshell on your head ! ;):p all those fumes, mon

Paint thinner man, leads to all kinds of problems :p I actually ordered that helmet, but I bought a damn pricey Shoei RF1100 also. I may end up selling the Shoei down the road, not my style and i'm not on a crotch rocket. Tried one on locally and the one they had was not tight enough so i ordered the next down. Really liked the feel though so we will see.

This was the last one I did some time ago. I could have done a better job with an actual spray gun and paint booth but my cousin wanted it done cheap. I did my absolute best on his budget, and I'm happy with it being that the entire thing is rattle can in a driveway. Prep is 90%, paint is 5% and spray is 5% imo. There was so much prep into it. I have to dig for the rest i'm just not outside yet, kid is sick.
