A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just want to make sure I am not going crazy, but I was riding 2 up this weekend. Total weight between the two passengers was 460lbs. I was getting 40mpg. Is this normal? I thought i would get alot less with a passenger.

Re: Gas Mileage???

Thats probably about right. You'll loose a little gas milage in pulling the extra weight up to speed. but once there, with the passenger behind you, there is very little increase in drag. In fact, in wind tunnel tests on wheel design, it was found that two wheels in tandem (if spaced correctly relative to tire width and diameter) can have a lower drag profile than a single wheel. Its possible two people could have a lower drag number than just a rider. :-)

Now Earl, don't go around making such unsubstantiated remarks. You haven't seen my wife yet

Much of my mileage on the '83 GS750 is "two-up".......get about 48 mpg.

....and maybe your throttle hand is less fierce with a passenger aboard.

And you should really really hope your wife doesnt read this forum. :-) :-)

:D :D Ain't that the truth. LOL. I'd be dead meat if she ever started reading any of the posts on this site. My pre-ride safety checks would probably end up taking 20-30 minutes, instead of just the usual, quick 30 second cursory lookover. The lady has seen quite a few movies ...... (many of them on that LIFETIME channel, where wives often get revenge on their husbands), and knows the importance of such items like brake lines, good tires, putting only gasoline inside a fuel tank, etc. :D :D :D

She's one gal you don't wanna make mad. I'd rather be seen riding pillion with Hap on a Kreidler scooter wearing nothing but thongs in the midst of a Harley convention, or undergo any of that other torture that you all are currently thinking up for Hap right now, as opposed to facing the wrath of my little germanic Brunhilde, LOL
