A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have just purchased a 1978 GS550 and am planning to bobber her out! I was wondering if any one knows if i will have any operational issues if i completely remove the gauge cluster (speedo, tach, indicator lights)???

any help will be much appreciated! :D

Well, your turn signals won't flash. You won't know at what intervals to change your oil, you won't know if your oil pressure drops to zero, and you'll get a ticket as soon as a cop sees you.

Sorry i forgot to mention i live in AZ. Here the only thing we have to have is headlight, brake light, and at least one mirror.

Other than that i shouldnt have any mechanical/electrical problems right? i.e. ignition or anything engine electrical?

The bike will run with the gauge cluster removed, but you'll have no neutral light, high beam indicator light or oil pressure warning light. I've replaced my cluster with a Trail Tech Vapor computer, but I also added new indicator lights.

The turn signals will work, but you won't have the indicators in front of your face, so you'll have to remember to cancel them.

If you simply unplug the wire connectors from the bike's wiring harness, rather than cutting any wires, you'll be able to reinstall the clocks if you later change your mind. The wires to the connector under the tank are for the gear position indicator and the neutral light.

You can unscrew the tach cable from the engine, but leave the tach drive in place there. It won't leak unless the o-rings are shot. You can get a new rings, and replacement plug, from Suzuki if you opt to do without a tach long-term.

unrelated question...do you know if there is a way that i can change my forum layout. any time i look at a thread, it puts the newest post first, and if i want to start from the beginning, i have to go to the last page.

click "display modes" at the top of the thread list. then click "hybrid mode"........Ray.........

Up at the top, choose "quick links", then "edit options". About halfway down is the setting to change. While you're there, add your location to your profile, and your bike to your signature.
