A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have seen a post about using GM HEI ign modules in place of our igniters.
Has anyone tried this? I think I'm having IGN problems and I would sure appreciate any info.[-o<

I don't know of any GS's running that set up, but I have heard of Honda CB's running it.

Go here.
and here.

If you come up with something that works, by all means post it. :-D

Man I bet those suckers are cheap and plentiful in comparison to our ignitors...

Yeah, plus they're small enough that you can carry a spare for when it dies. :) The GM HEI is a good setup, but I've had a whole pile of those ECMs die over the years. I started carrying a spare with me and would change them roadside.

Those ones at Jegs are only 20 bucks a coil cheaper than Dyna greens from Z1.

My time would be worth more than the added messing around to mount them but if they are 3ohm then they should work. If they are less you can put a resistor inline I think. Sqdancer lynn posted something about that to get 3ohm coils able to run with points.

Dan :)

The primary resistance on those accel coils is .5 ohms. I have already install a dyna s so I shouldn't have a problem with the resistance. I just figured these would be easer to get hold of especially is you used stock coils.

My friend has a Norton twin race bike with one fitted. It works well but I think the only problem is the advance & retard is preset for its intended use, he is looking into a way of changing this so if there is an update I will let you all know.

Mark...

I read on a bathroom wall, guys were supergluing GM Rotchester Quadrajet carbs to thier GS1000's for an additional 17 hp. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, Mr. Road Clam....
The QuadraJet secondaries act just like the induction system on the Yamaha V-Max! V-Boost I believe it was called.

I have the complete plans. I first saw it on the KZ site and it was for a 550.
should work for any 4 cyl like that though. it needs the inductive pickup though and mine was originally points so i went with Dyna S from Z1 ent.
I will be glad to email the plans though (pics, wiring diagrams etc).

HEI Plans etc.

HEI Plans etc.

I would be interested in getting a copy of the plans etc if you still have them

Thanks
