DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just wanted to take a moment and say hi to everyone here.

I just recently acquired a really nice 81 650L from a co-worker.
It is my first vintage bike that I've owned. It only had 6,500 mi on it and is really in great shape.

My other bike is a Yamaha VStar 1100 Custom.

I've been riding off and on for 15 years or so, with my first bike being a 99 Triumph Legend TT.

I live in Eastern CT and am hoping to accomplish my first Iron Butt ride and cross country ride in 2017.

Other bikes I have my eye on are the Honda Goldwing F6B and the BMW R nineT.

Looking forward to being a part of the group and hopefully making some new motorcycle friends.

Dang. I hope you are not planning on using the GL for an Ironbutt; it'll be more like a squishy cheese butt at the end.

Seriously though. At 6500 miles it shouldn't have seen too much abuse (but it does happen). There has been no shortage of new 650 owners showing up here in the last year or so. The folks on this forum really like pictures. Photobucket or other image hosts are the best way way to get full-size images (up to 10.post) into your threads.

Welcome to the forum, and let's see your "L"

Welcome,

I was down in the quite corner today (around Union / Yale Forest / Bigelow Hollow) on the FZ1. Nice short ride when it gets cooler.

Welcome. I'm curious to hear of your Iron Butt plans.
Good luck with your new ride.

My late uncle had a Triumph Legend . He put 86k mIles on it.

Was a great bike! That was when Triumph was "new" to the states again. Used to get a lot of comments on it.

As for the IronButt I'm planning to go from Willimantic, CT to Fort Kent, ME and back. Nice mix of highway and
country riding.

As a previous 650l owner who has put some mile on the back roads of Maine I would say you should run it on reserve or it will cut out every 80-100 miles. For the backup I strapped a 1 gallon tank with my gear on back and used it a few times as you will find some LONG gaps with no gas stations, and even less after dark. Many of the exits require 20 miles off highway to get a gas station that may or may not be open.

Welcome and check the meeting forum for meetups, got a nice group of NE members.

Welcome aboard!!! I have 2 GS650's currently. Combining them over the winter to make an awesome GS650G. The L tank is horrendously small and it gets annoying when riding out to GS rallies, which we do quite a few up here in the NE. As Skatguy noted we get together pretty often. I would love to see the pack of guys get together soon for some pub fare and shoot the $hit about motorcycles, and rip on Jethro for not having one.

I nabbed a couple Iron butt days this past year (1K mile days). But across the country sounds like an awesome time!!! Unfortunately the logistics to getting that much time off at once will likely be slim to none. Maybe when I retire but I got about 30 years till then...

So welcome aboard!!!! Never hesitate to reach out, hope to see you out there!!!
