I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS 65O G TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

 I have a gs 650 g. I was riding up a hill in 3, and then suddenly I had nothing, it popped out of gear and does not go back in to any gear.

I checked out the clutch throught the oil filler, and it still moves when I engage/disengage it.

The rear wheel is also very hard to turn.

The gear indicator still shows that I can change gears.

Any ideas?

Thankyou.

It sounds like maybe something let go in the final drive or rear end.

there have been several post on final drive problems with the 650 shafties,
I don't know why but some do fail.
pull the rear wheel, then remove the left shock then you can pull the final drive gearbox.
turn the output shaft and also turn the input shaft checking for free play, binding and rough spots.
if it checks out ok, you will need to pull the secondary gear box output shaft, I don't know if it can be done on the 650's with the engine still in the bike but it can be done on it's bigger brothers. (DONE IT!) it does require you to remove the swing arm, with the wheel off it is pretty simple to do.
once you have the output shaft out look at the teeth on it and on the input gear/transmission out put gear.

First thing to check is the engagement splines on the rear wheel-- where it goes into the rear drive unit

If i were you, i could drain the final drive and examinate the oil.
Maybe it has little metal particles or chips.
After that, i could check the spline trough the oil filler hole, the splines must be in good shape and shining.
Good luck.
