DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys I?m looking for advice I have a custom build going. I have a stock untouched wiring harness I will be relocating to under the seat so I will be possibly redoing a lot of the wiring. I/E shortening or lengthening to get things to fit cleanly and orderly under there. So since I?ll be in there playing with all of it what are some of the big things that help update/upgrade the wiring. I?ve found some threads about changing the R/R and possibly stator so far. I still will be looking for other threads and if you could drop a link that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Curtis

Many options are available, depending on where you are going with your "custom build". :-k

Check the stator, it might be OK, but definitely change the R/R. When you change the R/R, be SURE of what you are getting. The popular choices are CompuFire and Shindengen SH775. If you go to the Compufire site, you will find several models, but I think there is only one that is a 3-phase unit. For the SH775, two sources are Polaris and SeaDoo. Used units are relatively common on eBay, but there are a growing number of Chinese knock-offs that look remarkably similar, but are no different than what you have on your bike right now.

Nothing to crazy it’s going to be a stock engine for now with a stock harness I’m just trying to relocate all of it. I read on one of the forums about the shindengen sh775 is a series R/R and doesn’t produce as much heat? Should it still be located in a place that gets a lot of wind flow? I am unfamiliar with a series R\R.

Any R/R will benefit from air flow, but most of the GS R/Rs live under a side cover, where there isn't a whole lot of air moving.

There have been a few threads recently on guys that have been looking for a 775, and have posted links to fake copies. There have been suggestions on what to look for to make sure you get the right item.

Let me know if you need some help locating one.

Thanks for the help there is a video on YouTube showing the actual shidengens look like and what to look for also! There are so many knock offs im guessing it will run me about 100 bucks for one do I need to get actual Polaris plugs or do you think the knock offs will do?

The handiest option is the Triumph adapter harness for ten bucks. Any Triumph dealer has them.
Triumph part no. T2500676

Oh that’s cool! I’m guessing just cut the opposite connectors and slice in?

If you go to Sparck Moto, they have one with connectors for that price

Are they actually shindengens? The pic looks pretty generic and they don’t show many of them.
