Hello GSR Folks, well I searched around and all I could find was pictures of the E model with the 1150 fairing ,was wondering if anybody has any pictures of 82-83 1100E models with Fairings or windsheilds,Im looking more sporty than touring but NOT a cafe style Mairer or Cooley/Z1R Type I want to be able to take it on and off easy...Have my eye on something like this but not sure how it will go with my huge stock headlight.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nati...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25515ec00a
Any input would be great.Thanks

I had something similar on my gk. It looked alright and kept the wind of my chest. But not really out of my face. Mine was a Memphis Shades deuce.

Yea i was thinking it might be to staight around the headlight for the larger E series train light

I have a National Cycle F-16 on mine. I had to cut the opening around the headlight bigger. I also made some supports out of aluminum rod because it moved around too much. It is nice. It cuts down the pressure on my chest and I get no buffeting. I would get you pictures but my camera is MIA. I will try to get some though.

You could alway bust out the dremel and make it fit right.

Here you go. Click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Pinittowinit thanks a bunch for the picture post and replyNow i almost have a perfect idea of how it looks,I have USD forks as well.Have you tested this set up?how does it do in the wind, trying to take a long trip here soon...Thanks

It works great to take the pressure of my chest so I don't have a death grip on the handlebars. I still get wind on my helmet. Also a plus is the bugs hit it and less hit the shield on my helmet.

I have had the National Cycle Deflector DX on & off my bike for quite a few years now, and it might fit the bill....easy on/off without tools, and slightly more sporty than the larger Street Shield you linked above. The Deflector offers decent wind protection...I have it pictured here at full height extension, but others choose to lower it fully (it fits well, around the large headlight) and just take the wind off the chest area.

The one you link to looks similar to the Slipstreamer Spitfire. I use it on my '83 1100E and it works pretty well. It goes on and off quickly and looks okay with the 8 inch headlight. I don't have any pics of one on my bike but several other members here use the same windshield and may be able to post pics.

They can be found at good prices too. Here's one for $53.

Thanks,
Joe

I have one of those Spitfire windshields on my '81 1100E - works pretty well, not real big & fits over that square headlight nicely.

Love the bike! That windshield actually looks good like that, I never thought of mounting it that high but I can definitely see the advantages of why you did. Nice bike :)

I especially like the color! :D

Thanks Wacky, I see you too have excellent taste in colours!:p
With the shield at this height, wind catches me near the top of the helmet.....with the slightest of crouches, I get near-silent wind protection. Another reason I like it higher, is that the gap between the bottom of the shield and the gauges allows air to pass, reducing buffeting at high speeds, and also reducing the low pressure that typically builds up behind the screen.....this vacuum of sorts would be strong enough to suck my helmet visor to the open position frequently, when the screen was lowered & flush with the headlight....quite annoying.
