GS650G Side Cover Grommets

Is there a proper and / or safe way to remove the grommets that hold the frame side covers on from the frame? Wide grommets, small wee little holes.. I fear risking tearing or damaging the grommets and making them useless if I force the issue in removing them for glass blasting the rust off the frame before paint..

You could try heating them up before squishing them through. If they are so far gone you rip them, then they probably needed replacing anyhow. Might not hurt to spray a little silicone around them to help them slide out.

Thanks M8.. I'll give that a try.. they look to be in awesome condition, just being cautious about not ripping them.. with my luck, these would be some of the only parts never again available for this bike

Addemdum: and that did the trick.. Softened up enough to pinch an edge in under the hole, and the rest of the grommet followed through.. nice.
