Just for later considerations to use in a 77-79 GS750 frame as I think the 750es/engines are very
sweet as a 750engine and purrs like a kitten with very little mechanical noise
when in good shape .

My question, can I use the gs750/gs1000 style ignition
baseplate with either points or a Dyna S ignition on a es/ef 750
engine as I want to keep it as simple as possible and
avoid the orginal es/ef bike cdi ignition system?

In advance
Thanks.

Why would you want to take a "sweet" engine and downgrade it to points?

You say you want to keep it simple, yet you want to introduce constant maintenance cleaning, adjusting, replacing points. Sorry, but that does not compute.

You say you want to avoid the es/ef CDI ignition? That's EASY. They never had "CDI" ignition. They have the same coil-based (which is INDUCTOR discharge ignition, not CAPACITOR discharge ignition) system as the earlier bikes, the ONLY difference is that they have a box of transistors instead of points.

.

Ok,but will the ignition engine mounting plate and
advance unit from a GS750 engine fit the engine?

Or else, what is the best way to adapt this engine
ignition/electrics to the GS750 frame using standard gs750 wiring
harness?

OK, if I understand this correctly, you are talking about an older, 2-valve 750 engine and a newer 4-valve 750 engine? They are both "standard GS750", so you will have to be more detailed in your questions.

If you are wanting to put the 4-valve engine in the 2-valve frame, the only thing you will have to change is the wiring that triggers the coils. The stock 2-valve engine's wiring has wires that go from the coils to the points, which are grounded. The stock 4-valve engine's wiring has wires that go from the coils to the ignitor (that previously-mentioned box of transistors), which is grounded. In place of the points, there are two sensors, which need switched power and two signal wires that go to the ignitor.

That is a very minimal change to the wiring and could be done so it looks stock, if that is what you are trying to do.

.

To answer your question I'm pretty sure the points plate wont fit as it is a different size.

And the mechanical advance off the 2 valve motor probably wont fit either so it's a bit of a pointless exercise (pardon the pun).

Exactly,I am talking about an older 2valve gs750 and the 83es 750engine.
I have a Spare Dyna S ignition available intended
for a 750 2v engine.It have the same baseplate size(for sure) as the GS750 2v points ignition
One of my qustions was,Can i use this ignition(Dyna S ND version) on the 750es engine.
This would then make it very easy to hook up to the coils.
To me it looks very similar in size and the enginecover also almost interchange
and seems as same size as some of the katana models.

Or, if I want to,How exactly is it possible to adapt the signalgenerator
to a existing gs750 2v wireharness/coils?
Do this signalgenerator leads hook up directly to the 2v 750 coilwiring?
Do the es engine have a mechanical advance unit as standard?
