A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OK guys, I'm just curious.. (I did have a search and couldn't find anything)

Would the late model GSXF, you call them Katanas, oil cooled engines fit into an '81 750E frame?

Would it all line up fairly easily?
Electrical issues?

I had an '01 750 a while back and loved it. Fat and ponderous though it was, it could boogie along when required.

There is plenty of room to fit that engine, you just need different engine mounts.

Aah ok.
I have fabricators as mates, so that wouldn't be too bad.

It was just something I was mulling over in my addled head last night.

I see this bike as a continuing work in progress.
My last few bikes have been late model stuff that you don't get to tinker with.
I missed that, hence the GS now in pride of place.

Over on OSS there are templates for the mounts you need, I cant post a link because of their crappy website:rolleyes:

Thanks, mate. I'll go and have a wander through when I get some time.

I'd love to see a diagram of those mounts, but can't them on OSS. Not real easy to navigate.

I copied this image off their page, you get there starting from their main page and clicking on GSX/EFE Katana, then under 'articles'

Well that don't seem too dang hard. Push comes to shove, take these plans to a machine shop and have them crank them out. Have my eye on a 1996 Kat 750. That's still oil cooled right? Dude wants it gone since it has 6 bills in back fees. Just happens I have a 750 with none. Hmmmmm. This could be fun!

You won't have any issues making room for it. They even fit in the '83 and up frames.

I'm thinking my best option is to take the harness, exhaust, carbs electrics etc from the Kat right?
