    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Guess its time to start all over agian...........

Tis well into the beginning of riding season here in illinois and so far I have logged about 400 miles on the old girl. A not in perfect shape 1982 Suzuki GS1100G. I was on my way home from my eight year olds soccer match, the wife had the kids, and decided to take the more direct route home straight through town.Everything was going just fantastic, 75 degrees and almost the perfect breeze with plenty of sunshine. Tooling around minding my own, went though an underpass and started to get on the throttle when all of a sudden WHAM, a red car bumped my rear tire and sent the bike sideways. I had no choice but to lay it down. Good thing was I was only going about 15mph. Some how was able to hit the kill switch, and kick the bike out in front of me before hitting the concrete. I lifted my head just in time to see it was a red two door car but as they drove around me and away i couldn't get the plates, also not sure of make or model, man this sucks. I told the wife I wanted to wait for the winter to do a tear down and rebuild but I guess fate has other plans. Hopefully starting the tear down this week. I will try and get some before tear down pics. Its not in to bad of shape but I still have alot of time ahead of me. Really sucks that I wont be ridding this summer :(. Any suggestions would be helpful seeing as this is my first real big overhaul on a bike.
 
Take your time and do it right, you will be rewarded many times over if you do so. You will learn so much about your bike an probably enjoy the project.

Got a picture of the bike post-accident? usually slow speed laydowns don't cause too much damage. If none of the engine cases are cracked and the frame isn't tweaked, once you assemble all the parts you need, you could probably get her back on the road with one, or maybe two, weekends of hard work.
 
thats to bad,

i would have a good thinking about what you want,.. rebuild it stock or custom, and go thoroughly over the bike itself, to see what the damage is..
