A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi folks!
My hadlebars for the old -82 GSX1100 is crap, and I need new ones.
Only problem is that they don't look anything like the bars in the Alpha Sports online parts catalog.

Mine are some strange, welded pice of junk, with angles that don't agree with my riding position (sorry no pics yet).

Question: does someone have the measurments for the original bars?
(width, rise, pullback)
This would give me a better startingpoint for finding aftermarket bars.

Your help is much appreciated

Regards

This link doesn't reference GS1100, but check out

Many GS owners go the Superbike Bars route if they are looking for straighter (less bend at the wrist). Riding position is more forward.

The 06 and 07 Yamaha FZ1 bars are a pretty cheap option at about $26.00 from flatoutmotorcycles.com or mrmotorcycles.com. This is the route I'm going. The problem with them is you'll probably want/need bar end weights, but I think you can configure them without weights. You can get the weights for less than $20.00 on ebay.

You asked for the original dimensions of the GS1100, why do you think you would like the stock profile?

Thanks!
The bars I've got now is probably close to the same height as the originals, and beeing a fairly big guy (6') this height positions my back in an ok posture.

The angle, however, is clearly wrong. It is bent to much back to my liking - giving the feel of riding some oldtimer bike. Like the pre war Harley's with grips pointing backwards.

I can get hold of bars easy enough, but would like som input on dimentions people use, and what the originals were, as not to buy bars at random.

Yr input is highly appreciated.
