A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Help guys, i'm trying to track down a master cylinder rebuild kit for a front master on an 80 (81?) GS550L.... I'm not sure what year it is classified as because it says it was made 12/80... But Z1 classifies is as an 81 because of the frame numbers (JS1GN71L_B_100001 <- per Z1)

Any way, they don't seem to offer one anymore and I talked to a guy up there and he said there isn't an aftermarket or OEM one either.

Help me out! I got loads of gunk in this thing and some torn rubbers! (and thats never good!)

Your bike is an '81.

My suggestion is to get the OE rebuild kit, P/N 59600-33810. Ordered a K&L master kit from Z1 for my 850 and the piston did not fit - binding in the bore. Z1 did not stand behind the product so it sits in a box...while the OE parts are happily working in my bike.

Sweet, and thats the one that works on my bike? I thought suzuki no longer offered it, or was I misled?

Babbits doesn't even show a 1981 GS550L. If you go to the 550T, the part number I listed above is available. I'm pretty sure the master is the same since Alpha Sport lists the same part number for the 550L piston kit. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

Thanks, I'll give that a shot... Any good places to order from that might have a decent return policy in the event it doesn't work? :-D

I'm not doubting you, but I don't want to be stuck like you said you were

Most excellent info guys, I will order ASAP!

Thanks alot, once again GSR comes through!

This is an old thread but I just have to say my K&L master cylinder rebuild kit fit as good as OEM, no binding, noises, or anything.
