A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

One of the local guys traded mine free of charge. Check this out first.

Hi Chef. Where did you come from??? (read the post last night and didn't see you posted too  ) What I will probably do is order a couple so I can start switching them arround and then I will try to trade some.

This is the thing: I was working out of my garage fixing cars, and a couple of months ago the city inspector came and shut me down. Fortunatly I was cleaing a truck I got and was preping to sale. I guess a neighbour must have complained. He told me that if he saw me again, I would be fined $500 and they would arrest me. (I could have risked the fine, but there is no way in hell that I will spend time in jail ) I have been looking for a job, but nothing yet, so things are very tight. So far I have been doing a little here and there as long as it doesn't cost too much.

Anyways, thank you all for your input

Nico

There are bulk shim kits you can buy that have a manner of shim sizes, and the cost per shim is only half to a third of buying them individually. If you are planning on sticking to bikes that have one particular diameter shim in general (not necessarily the one marquee) perhaps that is worth consideration as well. ?

p,.s. i take it that these bikes are a shim-over-bucket design?

Hi Mike. I am definetly planing to stick with this bike. As soon as things get a little better, I will buy an assortment of shims. In the meantime I have plenty of things to have fun with

Not sure what Honda has for their shim sizes, but Kawasaki and Yamaha use 29.0 mm diameter shims. Suzuki seems to be alone with their 29.5 mm shims.
For that reason, if you get your shims from a multi-brand dealer, make sure you have the right diameter.

Yes, these are shim-over-bucket design. Might not be the best for ultra-high rpm, but these bikes don't turn ultra-high rpm.
Makes it easier to change shims, too. :D

Hey Chef, the inspector said that according to Chicago city ordinance, I don't have a permit to work on cars. There is waste disposal, insurance etc. He din't even catch working on a car since I was only cleaning the back of it so I could sell it. Some neighbour must have complained. I spoke with one of the cops I know, and he said that they wouldn't arrest me. Yet, I will not take a chance. At least I will not advertise in Craigslist any more (it's also posible that they got my name from there) and when I do it it is with the doors closed (it is ok now, but in summer it is an oven). so only those that know me and who I have been doing work for a long time come to me now.

I have a two car garage, and always had one parked in front of it if it was something quick. But since I don't advertise in CL. any more, buisness has suffered a lot.

What I am thinking of doing is to get another job (probably pizza delivery at night) and try to buy/ sell cars

You try to make an honest buck and help people and they bust you:mad:
