Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My 78 1000's stand pipes seem to have gone AWOL.Seen a older type like this on eBay with a newer style stand pipe.Of course I can't find it to link it:rolleyes:

The original looks like this. The fiche won't copy where I'd like it to

I believe this is the wrong way around but if I do this:

Trim off the blue arrows tab and trim the red arrow's pipe to fit it should slip right in.Anybody done this?Or am I blazing my own trail?

Why not just turn it around the proper way? :-k

If you trim the tabs so it fits, you will upset your REServe function.

.

Trimmed the tab and it just doesn't fit:mad:I HAVE to the original stand pipe or used the newer type one I cleaned up to:

But I'd rather to the older type tap.

Can you order the standpipes separately? I've never seen them on the fiches and I need to remedy this:

No they aren't available separately, you get one with a new petcock. At $273.70 USD + shipping it isn't happening here soon.I do have good news for you though, you can get that style WAY cheaper.I'm at a loss as to where the 78 pipe went.I was at the table where I barely got up from while working on the tap. Didn't pick it up or take it anywhere that I can remember.Me and my wife just can't find it,we are both getting beyond frustrated.

Well for starters, if its a 78 1000, the 77 /78 750 petcock is the same exact one except the fuel nipple face to the side and not to the rear. No biggy..just need a fuel line a few inches longer. Best thing is the 750s are like $88.00..or 1/3 the cost. The one pictured ( Crusty and rusty one ) isnt the stock 78 1000 petcock anyway.

As for the one pictured with the rust and crud all over it...throw it away. You have about a 2 percent chance of it ever working again.

The rusty crusty one isn't off my 1000,it's off mikerophone's 82(?) 850.I'd get a 750 one if I needed a new one Chuck but the tap is good with some cleaning and I'm not going to throw money at it I don't need to.I know the stand pipe here,I just can't figure out how it even got off the table I was working on:-k

I see. read it like the whole thing was broke. If you dont find it let me know..I got a few in the spares bin at my storage unit.

Sorry guys! Didn't mean to jump in and confuse things.

Chuck you got any taps for 850's? A new one is only 88$ which would be good for another 30 years if ridden regularly but I think I'll try my 81 L parts/project bike first if not - part number is the same but no idea on the condition yet.

I dont have any 850 petcocks or parts. Sorry. Usually ones as crusty as that one shown will have pitted up seats the oring seats against and leak no matter what you try..not worth the frustration in the end run in my opinion.
