A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How black can black get??

What about that NOS tank you bought?? Does it have any metal flake in it? I was maybe remembering a bit of gold metal flake??

I just took a wet rag and washed the tank a bit.. I looked really close up and its just black with NO metal flakes..whats your look like Dale??

I am talking about the one you showed me when i had my tanks at your house. Thats not a NOS tank? Anyway, this one doesnt have any metal flake. I also just took my finger nail and flaked off the paint and primer a bit and to me it appears to me the original paint.

Well maybe it isnt NEW and flawless but it is an original NOS color..thats more what i was meaning..and it has no metal flake.

As mentioned, black comes in many shades. It's like white. You'd think there would only be pure black, pure white, but it's amazing how many subtle changes there are. The deepest, darkest, most black, black, I have ever used is Concept black from PPG. I've parked this baby next to lots of black cars and everything looks gray or brown next to it. It's available in a base coat-clear coat system, or as here, a single stage, no clear. You can read the reflection of a newspaper in it. :D

Great looking car, Dave. Very tasteful mods.

I wish it were mine. :(

I have a '70 and a '73. The '70 is all original, the '73 will get a similar facelift that is seen in the picture however, the front facia is only available with the "square" 4-fog lamp system but mine will be converted to the original contour of the factory fogs (round amber) with a clear lense, instead. Otherwise the targa kit, side skirts and rear spoiler, will remain... ;)

Did I mention the 4-bolt 350hp 350 on the engine stand, waiting to go in. :D

What would a base coat of Vivid Black relate to? I believe it is a Urethane paint going over an epoxy prime coat with a Urethane clear coat.

Chuck,

That Dupont paint won't be a proper match for the Skunk paint. As Sandy already mentioned, it has some metallic in it.

When the paint is mixed for Dale's bike it's no extra work to mix extra. Follow Dale's lead and send him money to cover the costs. He will get the color properly matched.

99K Dupont has no metallic in it. It's black, a touch of blue and a touch of white. That's it. trust me, I've personally mixed it more times than I can count.

This is 99K on my Skunk.

The blackest black is pantone 000. Infact in itself is not a color but a lack of color. Anything else are shades of grey.

According to Alpha Sports colour charts they where the same. Black Pearl Bluing 06T. I had my damaged tail piece painted to match my NOS tank and even in bright sun and holding them side by side you cannot tell the diffence. Anyway, if you're going to go stock the code is from a 2000 Honda Civic NH592P known as Flamenco Black Pearl. Any paint shop will have the colour chips for you to look at.

Rather than go back and edit this post because it would probably get overlooked I'll up date it here. Sorry if I led you guys on a wild goose chase, but after rechecking the colour charts it looks the black is different between '78 and '79. The 06T Pearl Black Bluing (Weird name??) is for '78 and 08E Pearl Black is for the '79. The Honda code is for the '79 so the '78 could be somewhat different.
