A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How can I make these RS34's work?

So I bought a 79 gs750 that had a brand new set of RS34 Carbs on it. I could never get the thing to run well and found out they are too big for my bike. I did some searching and found that I could possibly get them to work if I put 850 jugs and all that onto the motor. Can anyone tell me what all I will need to do to get the bike running with these carbs? I thought about just selling them and getting stock carbs to get the bike running, but these carbs are badass and I'm not opposed to some extra work for some extra CC's

Right here is probably what you need: http://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...-Canadian-gsxr-750-1985-87-VM29SS-carburetors
Maybe he'd do some trading with you.

Marc is very correct. These are called VM29SS, by have NOTHING to do with VM26SS carbs nor VM29/VM33 smoothbores. They are actually an "SS" (special set) of 4 high performance 33(?)mm dirtbike carbs in a 4 cylinder rack, but the front of the venturi that bolts on restricts it to 29mm. Some people bore these out to 33, some leave as is. They are rare, and sought after for performance.
I want to say they are a 4 cylinder racked special set of TM33 dirtbike flatslides. Not CV flatslides like most other bikes 1980+, they are direct linkage. Performance...

Probably still too much carburetor for an 8V 750.

I'd think a 29mm carb with accelerator pump would be fine on a 750... even an 8 valve. But you're right, it probably doesn't "need" anything larger than a 26mm non-cv style carburetor.

I have a 77 GS750 with a built yoshimura 844cc top end including yoshi cams, hardened valve springs and retainers, ported and polished head and yoshi 4-1 exhaust. I'm running VM26 with pods, 117.5 mains, needle and needle jet from a gs1000 and it absolutely rips, pulls past redline in top gear if I'm not careful. I'm going to try VM28's soon but I'm skeptical if I will see any improvements as the intake air velocity will be reduced and roll on torque will suffer.
