A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

im wandering what kind of improvment i could expect from 4 into 1 rejet and pods on the 2v motor

On the other hand, if you don't get it right you might lose a lot more than a little.

The 1100 8 valve is a shafty - you've got plenty of poke already. Not worth the carrot.

A lot of headers are little more than bent tubes and you may even loose power compared to the stock exhaust system. The chart below may give you some ideas what you can gain, or loose.

I don't think it makes much difference unless you dwell in high rpms. On an 1100, that will translate to lots of noise or speeding tickets.

On a relative basis, it looks like stock is hard to beat.

You can expect more low-range to mid-range torque and if the main jet is right you should have between 5 and 10 MPH top end. I?m running a 4to1 Mac on my 1100GL with OEM airfilter and 125 main jets (little rich). I?m over 250lbs and roll-on wheelies are too easy.

The GS100EX (GS1100EX?) dyno chart doesn?t allow for jet changes needed when changing brands of exhaust so it?s results are no good. Simply put the airbox lid back on and put 107.5 stock main jets and the stock exhaust will out perform the rest. You simply can bolt on an exhaust and compare it to another without jetting the motor for each exhaust system.

Bolt on performance is an oxymoron. Unless you are willing to re-engineer the motor from top to bottom you will at best see 1-3 horsepower more. And spend more time tinkering than riding.

I have a 4-1 on mine and it sounds different, midrange power "seems" better, but it's not that noticeable.

The loss of the weight of stock exhaust helps performance although not by hp gains

So, why not just buy a newer bike?

So, why not just buy a newer bike?

So, why not just get a newer, more powerful bike?

Makes good sense to me, take advantage of all the progress made by top notch factory race engineers.
They been working/testing every night and day, since your bike was manufactured.

You can't beat em.

I can't believe how many people just don't get that concept…

The problem is most of our bikes haven't had the original exhaust on them since Reagan was in office. Trying to find one now is not impossible, but tends to be a little expensive. If my bike had the original exhaust I would have kept it, but it came with an old rusty Mac 4-1. Now it has a fairly new rusty V+H 4-1. Yay, quality control.

For me I dont just "go get a newer bike" because I like the personality of this old school suzuki. It's a classic. I also love mods and very seldom leave anything stock. Also a plus side of this is cheap productive tinkering. As opposed to giving my first born for things I'd want to mod a new bike. And plus. I don't know about you, but I don't want to look like every other joe blow on the road with the same bike im riding. That's cooool.

That's a concept that's not hard to understand.

I recently purchased the yoshi header that was in the for sale section. I can't wait to install it. I'll have the same things done. Pods and exhaust. A little more then just a little more power I can't wait!! I've never riden mine so it'll all be new to me ;)
