All - I have rebuilt the carbs and adjusted the shims on my '81 850. My questions have to do with adjusting everything well enough to get her to fire up after putting everything back.
For example, after I bench sync the carbs, do I leave the throttle plates open at the large paper clip diameter or close them (via the idle adjuster) before putting them back on the bike?
Also, when I adjust the throttle cable, do I just take out the slack on the cable so everything starts off fully closed? I'm thinking that with the throttle released that the cable should just be tight enough so that when the throttle is turned the plates start opening up.
You'd think after rebuilding the carbs and adjusting shims that this wouldn't be hard, but I've never been here before...
Any help will be appreciated.
