    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I cant find the old post.

Bike is running great. However if I am in any gear besides first, giving it any throttle beyond around 7,000 RPM causes it to slip out of gear. What are the possibilities? I figure this could be dangerous since going into turns you need to roll on the throttle otherwise the bike will stand up and not turn as effective. I would hate to have the bike stand up in a curve!Could the clutch lever be not loose enough? There is not really any slack that I can feel right now.
 
If there is no free play in the clutch it could be the clutch slipping rather than the trans, especially since it does it in more than one gear. Fix the clutch cable first.
 
If your bike is popping out of one gear into another, or into a false neutral, you've got problems assuming your shifting the lever with a good swift motion. If it's the clutch slipping that's just regular maintenance and relatively cheap to fix. My 400 pops out of 2nd into neutral if I'm wailing on it so I've chosen to live with it.

If this is something I choose to live with for a while....do you ever have a problem with your 400 slipping out of gear on a corner and the bike not turning effectively...thats my only worry...rather not hit any oncoming trucks or anything. :wink:

I know you cant tell me what my bike is going to do...just wondering if you have ever had a problem
 
The worst thing that's happened to me so far was that I got stuck in between 5th and 6th and could not get into gear again. I had to pull off on the side of the highway. What I didn't try to do was upshift so maybe I didn't have to pull off.

As for corners, if you know what it takes to jump out of gear train yourself not to do it. Freewheeling through a downhill corner can also be scary and dangerous so if this is a frequent problem I would fix it. Unfortunately it's not like a car where you can just hold on to the shifter to prevent it from jumping out of gear.
