Well, got a few hundred more miles on her now and have mostly sorted out the jetting. ITs been a bear.... 1st run on the dyno with 130 mains was a dismal 100hp. She fell off the scale rich with the 36 flatslides. Went back with 120's in and picked up to 113hp. Better but still very rich and crapping out between 6 and 9k.
I have a set of 117.5's in now and man....the beast is awake. Haven't got back to dyno yet but I have another problem..... laying rubber when it hits 6k. It just spins up to 10k and I have to let off..unless the tire is nice and hot.
Dyno dude told me the better the head flows the smaller the jets. I was being told to use at least 140's but I knew it was running quite rich at 135 so ??????? to the dyno sniffer I went.
I am hoping to pick up another 12 to 15hp now that she is running strong on the mains. I'm shooting for 125 to 130 rwhp. hope to get an appointment next week for final needle tuning and syncing. The pulls were to 9k but she pulls hard to 10k so next one we will let her rip.

oh and I went with black wheels instead of the polished. Thought it looked better with all the silver.

and once I have her all sorted out it's off to Friday night Steet legals to see how deep into the 10's I can get?????

Rock on Rob! It's looking mean man :D I love it.

Be sure to tell us how it's final Dyno run goes once you get the jetting sorted.

As one black motor/silver GS owner, to another....that is SO DAMN RIGHT.
Love the black motor, silver on the body and black rims.
Flows nicely.

Excellent job.\\:D/

Verrry nice work. Love the black wheels and motor.

Good luck at Mission...here's hoping it don't flip over backwards!
If it launches hard, I'd expect mid-10's no problem.

FYI - 'Super Ninja' is now out to 1052cc...scored some nice Arias 11:1 pistons...got all the internals, she's in final prep/assembly now, hope to be running in a month or so.
Should be fun. Looking forward to trying my hand at Mission as well.

Stay in touch.

-Ted

Rob as allways youve out done yourself again !!! looks sweeeeeeeeetttttttt !!!! put the polished wheels back on her !!! or dont!!! YOU NEED TO FLY HER DOWN MY WAY !!! we would have a blast man !!!

I think I will put them on the one waiting. I am thinking gloss black frame, semi black cosmetics with polished wheels, swing, frontend and engine covers on black motor. Maybe that will sell for a decent buck?

You know Rob a 7" slick will solve that problem \\:D/

Threw on a set of Pirelli's today. Their 180 is quite a bit narrower than the Dunlops. A good choice for chain clearance. My chain was shaving the Dunlop. Lots of room now and they are sqeeking on my garage floor....nice. the dunlops were wood. They should considerably help my spinning problem.

Rob, not to hijack your mod thread but I had sent you a PM the other day and hadn't heard from you yet. I posted in here just to make sure you saw it in case you didn't get notification or something?

Thanks :)

very very nice m8...

sadly I could never dream of riding it...

Fuel Tank V Beer Tank issues - sigh:cry:

You really did a fantastic job....I compare yours to mine and I am envious
It has to be smokin' fast.

You don't have to be specific, but what is the guestimate of the amount of time and $$ you put in to this project?

You really put it all together.... I went back and read through all your ups and downs...cool job man

Katman, It appears that you changed swingarms from your original thread to allow for mounting of works shock. It also appears that you moved the center of the hole for the shock mount about 1" further forward. Is my observation correct? If yes did that raise ride height in the rear a smidge?

Yes... very close observation dude. I sold my old swing(b12) cuz I went with the WORKS shocks with the eye-eye mounting. My old swing had a clevis mount. They are moved forward because my shocks are actually 12.5" instead of the 13" stock. I have a ride height adjustment on them to raise it up further but as it sits it is higher than stock.

I am planning on posting a pic of the dead stock suspension kat beside my Resto-Mod to show the differences such as ride height, looks, header clearance.

Katman,
Thanks for the confirmation. I have my bandit arm set at your original location but in hind site might have moved it forward to gain some height in rear. Maybe this clarification should go in your other thread concerning GSXR conversions. Note: I didn't ask my question there!!

I have Ohlins piggy backs but not sure how long they are compared to stock. I do know that even with the stock swing arm my piggy back canister was rubbing on the center stand lift assist handle on the left side of bike. It probably is going to be worse with the bandit arm in your original location.

I have another bandit arm but am waiting till I get some ride time before I try to fix something that might not be broken.

Where I work R&D stands for Rip Off and Deceive so you shouldn't be too surprise by more observation skills.

Isleoman
