A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi I've got my bike up and running after sorting out a few problems it had a hanging idle, this was fixed with a carb rebuild with all new orings, new inlet rubbers and oring. The engine now runs well but won't hold a idle don't get me wrong it doesn't fluctuate by a lot from about 1200 down to 1000 but sometimes lower to the point it cuts out. It goes up and down almost rhythmically maybe every 30 seconds. It also dips more when I pull up when riding. Any pointers in the right direction would be helpful. The bike is stock air filter it has a micron 4 into 1 exhaust.

I had some the same problems last year after cleaning the carbs and replacing o-rings.. I had to work with the idle mixture screw and the idle adjustment screw a bit to get it right. I had to back out the idle mixture screws and then adjust the idle as needed. It took me a few tries to get it right.

Vacuum carb sync in addition to what's already mentioned.

Thanks for the replys, valve clearances are a little slack that's sort of the next upcoming job. I'll recheck the carb syncing and fiddle with the idle mixture screws this upcoming weekend. Thanks for the pointers

I just went thru the normal idle and then it would jump up to around 3 grand and then settle back after a minute or so on my 77 KZ 650 project. This after a full dip and carb rebuild, new intake manifolds, carbs vacuum synced etc etc.

turned out the 1/4 coil was intermittently firing after it got hot...thus the fuel would build up in the cylinder unburned. When the coils would refire, the RPMs went gonzo. New coils took care of the problem. Lesson learned was to let it get hot and then use the timing light to see if the coil signal stay right or not.

Fouled plugs will also contribute to erradic spark and RPM symptoms.
