    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

frame 3 - Copy.jpg Spray painted my frame today. I realise that it's not the perfect way to do it but this bike is not being restored just being neatened up for a few more years road use.

frame 5 - Copy.jpg Frame was sanded and minor surface rust treated before primer, black and clear acrylic. Oh then I brush painted some of the bolt heads with metallic silver. It will look good for a few years or until they are undone but easy to touch up or replace with stainless bolts at a later date.

tank 1.jpg Someone painted and put stickers on the middle of tank?? Presume clear coat peeled and was corroding.

tank new paint.jpg I only painted middle section as side of tank looks ok. May take the day off tomorrow... maybe...

Right side. 29 12 2015.jpg Back together. Ready for riding. The previous owner had re-done the seat and taken out a bunch of padding. May have to put some back in.

Good progress in a couple weeks.

Looks like someone did a good job of lowering the seat (have seen some hack jobs).
If the seat cover material is still there, tucked underneath, yah, maybe you can add some cushion material. Maybe have staple holes in seat cover where is presently attached.

Finding a good stock GK seat will be difficult. SOme are black, and some are the two tone. Most in bad condition.

Seat from 82&+ 1100G will fit, but is different. A little easier to find.

Thanks Redman. Will just modify this one ... one day. It has been done well, but no excess vinyl to just add padding.

You are right, of course 1948man. :) It is a dirt dauber nest, catching wee little spiders to feed it's young. It was stuck on pretty good.

gk rear wheel - Copy.jpg The rear wheel was looking a bit...ummm... old. So time for a clean up. :)

gk rear wheel pain n polish - Copy.jpg Painted with satin black auto acrylic. Then polished the edges by hand. Came up pretty good.

gk rear wheel new - Copy.jpg Getting it back together. Took most of today to do this little job. Worth it though.
