As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

K&N Filter cleaning

Hi guys, this might be a silly question but I just cleaned my K&N air filter tonight using th k&n cleaning kit and was wondering if I have to wait a certain amount of time after oiling it to
1...put back in the bike?
and
2...can I ride my bike right away?
Thanks as always,

Trevor

Did you wait for the filter to dry before you oiled it? Hope so anyway.

You can install the filter right away but I'd wait half an hour or so before riding so the oil wicks though the cotton.

Yes I waited for it to dry before oiling it just like the instructions said. The instructions just didn't say anything about waiting before putting it back in the bike or how long before I should ride it.
Thanks guys,
What a site! I post a question and 4 minutes later I have 3 responses!!:):)

You don't have to clean it every time it looks dirty either. They actually filter better with a layer of dirt. In between cleanings just tap the loose dirt off and re-oil. I doubt if I have really cleaned mine 5 times in 25 years and 60,000 or so miles.

I put the filter back in and my bike is bogging out at 4500rpm? Did I do something wrong? Is it possiable that I didn't wait long enough for it to dry before oiling it? Too much oil? Bike was running great before, should have left well enough alone. Any help would be appreciated.

You may well have applied too much oil.
The instructions are pretty clear on the bottles. Only you know if you didn't follow.

You may have to reclean and start over.

You can stuff and wrap the filters with paper towels to wick away excess oil.
