All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After the Temp. made it from freezing this Morning into the Low 60's I decided to go for a Ride. I began Meandering the Rural roads on Southern Graves County KY between Wingo and Water Valley where I took a few Foliage pics.

I decided to ride on down to Hickman KY which sits in the far Southwest Corner of of the State on a Bluff overlooking the Mississipi River. In the Early to Mid 1900s Hickman was a Booming Center of commerce and Riverboat trade but as Transportation needs and the course of the River Changed Hickman got passed by and very nearly Swallowed up by the River. By 1995 a Significant portion of the Town was in danger of collapse as the Bluff kept Eroding and Collapsing every Spring when High Water came.
The Army corps of Engineers was called in to try to stabilize the Bluff with a New Technology called "Earth Nailing". Here is the Placque overlooking the area where the work was done.

and here is the Bluff face Today that has remained stable for the last several Years.

This is Looking across from the Top of the Bluff which according to the 80 Year Old Man standing next to Me when I took it is the Highest Point on the River between St. Louis and the Gulf.

It was a Nice 160 mile Ride on a Sunny Day!

Agreed . .. and fair enough .. just a habit now to look for the GS in pics on here :-D.

I do enjoy the mini-history lessons too.

Once it gets above Freezing I'm Open to Suggestions.:-D

Always like your "ride with pics" stories Marvin, even though I hardly ever comment.

I'd post my bike stories too, but pictures of some guy peering at his torn apart motorcycle wondering what to do next are pretty boring.

Oh, I don't know Mark, I used to work at a Factory with a Mechanic who had a bad Temper. One Day in Frustration He threw a Large Combination Wrench at the Machine He was working on and it Bounced back Perfectly to smack Him right between the Eyes.:-D

I've never thrown anything yet. Except a fit.

Tomorrow I'm headed to Biloxi Mississippi to build houses for Habitat for Humanity for a week. Maybe I can post a few pics of that.

If any of you other GSr's want to meet the legendary (and frozen) Marvinsc and I, be there.
Dyersburg TN. Suzuki dealership on 51 bypass. 9:30 AM.

Same here. What I really enjoy is how much you enjoy your motorcycle.
