Here is my bike so far after about 3 months of work after recieving it in multiple peices and not running. The paint job is not complete yet I still have a good amount of wet sanding and polishing left to do.

Mods: I removed the chunky part of the rear fender that held the license plate and fabricated my own. Removed the turn signals and mounted them inside the tail lense. Moved the horns over the battery using the old mounts from the airbox. Put on dragbars and lowered the gauges slightly. Got a round headlight from a old honda a junkyard and refinished it and fabricated the headlight ears (mounts). Aftermarket exhaust, kerker 4 into 1 I think (installed by previous owner). Shortened Yoshimura R3 race muffler. And a dynojet Stage 3 kit. That all I can think of at the moment, I might have left something out.

Mods to come: Metallic Gray Suzuki tank logo and 1100 tail decal. Cateye barend mirrors and custom LED turn signals run through the handlebars and mounted with the mirrors (will figure out how to do it when I get the parts). Pod filters. Shave the driver part of the seat 1 inch. Definitly more to come my mind never stops even when I want it to.

Great Job!

Great job pal! Good idea to mount the turn signals inside the tail lense. Would you post pics of the mount process? Also, when you get those strange mirror-turn signals post some pics, I'm looking forward to change mine as soon as I can, but i was wondering if I could switch them for some non-common ones.
Also, your bike could use some Chrome in the exhaust:arrow:

I will try to get those pics up tomorrow of the tail lense. The lack of chrome on the bike is due to my very low budget I have only spent about 300 dollars (free yoshi pipe from my buddy). I still have to do more polishing of the pipe as well.

I have been thinking about the direction I should take my bike (assuming I ever get the chance...). Your pics scream to me.... 'black no chrome'! It really works with what you have done! I like the black headlight bucket the black engine, the whole package :).

I have been thinking of a fenderectomy in the rear as well... Now I am not so sure, without it the tail looks a tad long, though on the 450's it may not be so drastic as the rear tapers out a lot faster than yours... I'll have to try it and see I guess.

Anyways nice work, looks sweet!

Looks good man. Just need to lose those L model forks. I can't imagine it handling too well or safely with them on there. They are the wrong fork tubes for the rake on that frame.

The paint on the panels and tank will be polished to a high gloss, the engine is gloss, the frame is painted with a satin black engine paint, and the headers need a recoat of high temp satin black (engine running rich making the headers to hot for the paint).

Also I did the tail like that because it gives it a higher rear profile like most new streetbikes. I can't wait for what the cops are going to say about my license plate mounting.

Oh I forgot to ask for your suggestions on possible decal schemes for the bike. I want to give that sportbike look like the newer gsxrs.

Nice JOB Akreider!!! I'll bet your brother's a little jealous now that you have it together and running.

Cool a fellow South Jersian!
Quick question, what's the legality of the plate mounting? Any trouble with cops because of the angle/location? Are there any "rules" that you know of regarding NJDMV?

Thanks!

-Fran

That is the exact mounting I had when I took it to get inspected (passed). And no cops have bothered me about. The further back you stand it is alot more visible, that is why I am probably going to angle it up a little more.

What part of south jersey you from?

Adam

Fran were you referring to the old or new mounting? I had switched to angle backwards as seen in the newer photos I posted HERE (not in this thread). And that was the position it was in when it was inspected.
