DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

It looks great! I love the color. After 3 years of sitting the carbs definitely need/should be cleaned.

Robert Barr at cycleorings.com has what you need (don't forget to get intake boot O-rings too).

Bike looks good.:) They didn't have that color scheme for the US market bikes. What year is it? They stopped bringing it here in '83 but continued for various other markets for several years after.

I'm not a fan of red, but it looks great on your bike! What brand of exhaust is on your 850?

Always happy to see another 850 running again. Great bikes and your's look like a real fine machine too. I'd have to summit an educated guess that Scottland is a great place to ride the twisties. I'm jealous already:p.
Bill

the exhaust is a motad 4 into 1 great sound off this as for the roads in scotland what can i say they are fantastic along with the scenery:D

was going to get some kind of rust stop and coat the frame before any paint goes on :-k

How many wire brush heads did you go through? I will be doing the same this winter on the parts bike frame to possibly sell or use in a different project. As far as the bare frame I would just alcohol the frame down and give it all a quick coat of sandable primer till your ready to paint. But there are others who know much more about painting and prep.

Paul

three on the grinder and two on the drill also used the sander personaly i quite enjoyed just sitting out the back grinding and sanding away don`t think this would be everyone`s cup of tea .Ive only went down this road myself because i saw the fantastic job glstine did on his frame plus i wanted to able to say that it was me that done most of the rebuild:eek:

Yeah, just hit the frame with some paint thinner, then a tack cloth to get all the dust and grit off. Then prime real good. Make sure you get the primer nice and smooth before painting.

thanks for the info ddaniels might get it primed as soon as paint will have to wait got to work next weekend  so that will be it for now

alright chaps got my frame done this weekend primer rubbed down couple of coats of matt black didnt look right so went with metallic black and looks like new well chuffed with this finish :D coated the frame with a rust stop first then went with adhesion promoter before any paint went on primer rubbed down matt black then metallic then a good couple of coats of clear lacquer
