Hello everyone.
My first motorcycle back in 1985 was a used 1981 GS650G black in color I purchased it early in the spring of that year, near the end of that summer I laid it down late one nite as I was taking a turn and hit some gravel and it slid into a curb while I barrel rolled down the street.The insurance company totaled the bike, I really liked that bike.
I used the insurance money to help buy a new Yamaha 1100 maxium I had that bike until about 1995 when I sold it.
Then after about 3-4 years (around 1998) of not having a motorcycle I started getting the urge to buy a used motorcycle then I remembered that there was a lady down the street that had one for sale earlier that summer out in front of her house.I did not even know what kind it was,but I went to the house that it was in front of and inquired about the bike to see if she still had it for sale and she did.
She open the garage door and I could not belive it there sat a 1981 GS650G black in color the same as my first Bike some 18 years earlier,so I had to buy it( $650 ).
I rode it for a 3-4 years then it became unreliable so it sat unused until about 2004 when I tried to get it in running condition or I sould say the bike shops tried without luck still unreliable.In 2005 I purchased a new kawasaki vulcan 1600 I just sold it on 4/19/10.
So I found this GS forum while researching what might be the problem,so far it looks to be stator/RR.
It has a very weak spark because any buildup on plugs and it won't start or very hard to start( been using starting fluid) and it has been that way for years along with not charging the battery.
