DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i did the fork seals on my 1981 gs1100e yesterday. all seems well. i put the seals in at a buddy's house and i left my manual there. i reinstalled the forks yesterday. they are in but i have a question. there is a hole on each fork that appears to match up to an air bleed screw on the front of the lower triple tree. is the hole supposed to match up to the air bleed screw? i havenot taken the bike off of the center stand yet and until i have this question answered i wont ride it or test the suspension.

Not familiar with the 81 1100E forks, but from looking at the schematic not sure if it makes a difference.

The holes in the fork tube are captured by the collars that seal with upper and lower o-rings. The collars should be undercut looking at the schematic.

Not sure the function of the stop valve/needle valves in the 81 1100E collars. Interesting. Looks like no o-ring seals on the connecting hose?

The fork tubes can turn any way they want, air gets to those holes through the space between the o-rings.

Also the forks will work better if you DONT run any air, That puts unneeded pressure on ure seals. Running a spacer/better springs instead of air is a better option

thank you, i put a small spacer in and i am running 20 weight fork oil. it seems better but how big a spacer should i be thinking ablut putting in? i have a 2 inch in now and i am thinking of doubling it. any ideas?

I am not sure if i want to say thanks or punch you in the mouth.

fair enough, how bout i do neither and continue to ask inane questions as it seems that really irks you?!

anyways thank you so much for all of your help, without you i would have perished!
