    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

need help on clutch

when racing it seems that either my tranny slips witch i dont think or theres some wierd thing goin on with my clutch...idk maybe thats normal for the 850g it only happens if im up around 8500 rpm when racing...any thing yall can tell me?

thanks but not the advice i was looking for the 850 is a considerably fast bike from light to light.its fun untill the clutch slips anything else you guys can tell me?

Have you installed upgraded clutch parts? Heavy-duty APE springs, new steels and fibers? But that's not the reason I stopped by...

Check to see that the clutch stack is correct. if you know it is

get new springs and or new fiber plates. since you can feel it slipping it you are going to have to check for heat warp distortion on the steel plates.


if it still slips look for a lock up clutch and the case spacer.
 
lol im 17 years old and bought the bike as a firstie.turning out to be the best ive been on due to when i turn my head im not in the other lane and im not getting vibrated to death.as of upgraded...i have no idea your guess is as good as mine most of the bike is original so i highly doubt it...i do plan on upgrading so its not so stock but it takes the green to do what i want:D
 
As stated above, get some new clutch springs and fiber plates. Check ebay... they aren't that much money. Pull the clutch out (it's easy) and replace. Check for warpage on the steel plates. They might be fine.
 
Make sure you are not using an "energy conserving" oil. This can cause clutches to slip.

theres not much i know about doing anything on bikes i mean i can get by....almost how would i go about adjusting the clutch?.....and no i dont think its energy conserving

Go back up to Basscliffs mega welcome and enter his site. Download a manual and adjust the clutch cable accordingly. Youre looking for some freeplay at the clutch lever to be sure the clutch is fully engaged. You can adjust some of that with the adjuster right at the lever but if your cable is stretched you may need a new one. Clutch cables are pretty cheap.

Did you change your oil ? If you dont know whats in your engine it may be advisable to change it....
 
New clutch springs from Suzuki should take care of it (you don't need heavy duty springs), although if you've been slipping it a lot you may need new fibers.

This is pretty common -- the springs sag after all those years.

i curently have a problem with a super leak so yea i add a quart every 200 miles or so....i only use lucas but idk if it is or not
 
OK after some review of the bike i noticed that my clutch has no play in it the clutch cable is stretched to reach the bars well more like bent but anyways i don't believe that it is the original maybe a Jimmie riged but i plan on fixing it soon thanks guys
